Welcome.
In Kentucky, storytelling is as natural as breathing. Growing up in Eastern Kentucky, I heard my mother tell stories daily about her family and her childhood as she cooked our meals. The men in our family also swapped stories in country stores or on street corners but years passed before I valued the art of storytelling.
Somewhere along the way, I began to dread the stories reported in the media- stories highlighting rapes, murders or other crimes. As I recoiled, I asked, “Where are today’s heroes? Where are the records of their good deeds?”
As I searched, I found heroes in Kentucky-ordinary people that God is using in extraordinary ways to impact the lives of others. For the past few years, armies of mission volunteers have streamed into Eastern Kentucky. When they return to their homes and retell the stories they have heard, God continues to transform lives.
As you sample a few Kentucky stories, I hope God will reveal Himself to you and inspire you to leave your comfort zone and follow Him. You, too, can be a hero.
